A Very Australian Christmas
Morning.
32 degrees (celsius), sunny. mariah carey at 9am, Sister dances, annoys. wet dog nose, fur on tile. hot cup of earl grey tea, almond milk, favourite mug, don't burn tongue. warm sun through windows. trail mix, pyjamas.
Presents.
surprises, ribbon, glitter, thank-yous. dog sneezes. wet. christmas lights. wrapping paper on carpet, ferrero rocher for Dad. boxing wraps and lipliner for Me. books. air-con, blankets, head on Dad's stomach, calm.
Beach.
sunscreen. sunscreen. sunscreen. history of burns, not today. board shorts and rashies, hats, umbrellas, sunglasses. slip slop slap. scalding sand, burrs in feet. thick algae in water, bathtub temperature. Mom happy. sun. calls to Grandparents. this is australia.
Afternoon.
packing, documents, checks, google maps. more trail mix, more chocolate. smarties. loads of laundry, leaving tomorrow. japan. nap, old couch. green tea and vanilla, dusty carpet. apricot jam on ham, oven roaring.
Evening.
christmas dinner. steam, apple juice, mustard. laughter. Brother plays around with christmas music. full belly. star wars family feud, dumb game, no trivia. scattergories. i lose. (as always.) tired. more tea. (addicted?) pumpkin pie, too much whipped cream. smiles.
Family.

How was your Christmas?
Loved this! Sounds like a good day. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley! It was amazing :)
DeleteI don't really celebrate Christmas anymore but Christmas in hot countries always fascinated me. Right now it isn't cold in Dublin (but compared to Australia, it is). It was probably my warmest Christmas ever. And I mainly tried to do some writing on Christmas but I procrastinated.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad you really enjoyed yourself and ate a lot.
Also,
ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO JAPAN?!
It really is interesting to spend Christmas in both hot and cold countries. Meh, that's ok. Christmas is Christmas, and you're allowed a break.
DeleteYES I DID IT WAS AMAZING AND I'LL BE WRITING ABOUT IT SOON!
